Animal Magic!

Animal Magic!

The Bolton Guild of Help manages many legacies for the benefit of people living in the Bolton area.  Did you know however that we also manage a legacy for the benefit of animals?  The Joyce and Frank Smith animal fund was set up by a former trustee of the Bolton Guild of Help in memory of his late wife Joyce Smith.  Sadly, Frank Smith passed away some years ago leaving the remainder of his estate to in trust with the Guild for the benefit of Animal welfare around the Bolton area.  For further details go to our contact page.

Back To Our Roots

Back To Our Roots

A couple of years ago we looked through our archives and discovered that the Scott Trust based in Kendal Windermere have links with the Bolton Guild of Help.  Sir James Scott, one of the founders of the Guild in 1905 made many donations to the charity over the years until his death in 1914.

1926 – Scott House, 27 Silverwell Street was given in Memory of Sir James W Scott Bart and Lady Scott by their sons Sir Samuel H Scott Bart., and Francis C Scott.  To commemorate the 21st year of the Bolton Guild of Help.  The Sir James & Lady Scott Trust was set up in 1909, now operating from Kendal but funding many organisations in the Bolton area today.

COVID-19

COVID-19

Throughout the lockdown the Bolton Guild of Help continues to operate to support people living in Bolton who are struggling. We continue to strengthen our links with other organisations to enhance the work we do, in partnership with other organisations. Applications are being carried out by appointment over the telephone. Telephone and email contact is available during office hours for enquiries. We are working hard to make sure that we can deliver as much support to people as possible especially during this difficult time.

Support for Veterans

Support for Veterans

Bolton Guild of Help has had links with Veterans for over 100 years, with Scott house being the original home of SSAFA Bury & Bolton (now based in the Fusilier Museum in Bury).  We continue to work closely with SSAFA today.  We launched our Bolton Veterans Aid in 2019, providing support to veterans of Bolton in their time of need with essential items, benefit support, food voucher referrals and debt advice through directing you to Christians Against Poverty.  We are working hard to build on this with projects prepared and funding applications submitted.  Further information on this will be provided once funding to expand on the project is secured.
